#1 Exercise
We know you have heard this so many times that you probably rolled your eyes when you saw this one. However, this point cannot be overemphasized. If you have a fitness regime that is constant, it usually finds a way to boost your confidence, creativity and resilience both whilst working out, and at your work place. Believe it or not, working out is great for your career.
#2 Seek Inspiration & Be Open To New Experiences
Simply put, do not put yourself in a box. It is never worth it. Explore. Find out the things you love to do that do not directly involve your career path. Most times, they end up helping you in one way or the other on the long run. It also makes you a more knowledgeable individual irrespective of your age. This makes you more relevant career wise.
#3 Invest In Genuine Relationships
Do not find yourself in a rut whereby your only functional relationship that exists is your relationship with your desktop and the accompanying files at your workstation. Reach out to your loved ones and schedule time to spend with them. No, social media does not count. Face-to-face meets are more effective according to studies, and these connections could lead to ideas that can cause a big change in your career.
#4 Feel Free To Say No (As Much As You Want)
Steve Jobs once said “ People think ‘focus’ means saying YES to the thing yu have to focus on, but that’s not what it means at all. It means saying NO to the hundred good ideas that are out there”. Simply put, when you are focusing on something, find a way to excuse your other numerous great ideas. We know it’s difficult sometimes, but you should at least give it a shot.
#5 Explore Nature
Wake Up and Smell The Flowers. Some of us could be successfully diagnosed with what we would like to call a “Nature Deficit Disorder”. We move from our homes (indoors) to our vehicles (kind of indoors) to our offices (indoors?!), and the cycle is endless. Sometimes, take time off to break off this cycle. Take a walk and breathe in fresh air. This could assist in replenishing your energy, and who knows? An idea might pop right into your head while taking that walk.
#6 Unplug
There is a growing culture of unplugging where people choose a day to go without their devices. You could schedule 2 days a month to unplug your devices and spend time with your mind renewing your body. On days like this, you could read a book, plant some flowers, bake or do nothing at all. It is a great way to restart your next day at work, as you would come back feeling refreshed and super-charged.
#7 Get The Best Out Of Your Evening Routine
Successful people know that ending your day well is as important as starting your day right. This way, you would wake up in a mood that sets you for a high-energy, productive and creative day ahead. When you pay attention to your evening routines, you wake up the next morning feeling restored and fulfilled which sets the tone for the day ahead.
#8 Take An Actual Vacation
Picture This. A picture of the royal family on vacation in the Canes savoring the crystal blue waters and savoring the sunshine. If they can take time off running a whole monarchy to enjoy a real vacation, then you can too.
#9 Invest In Your Skills
Successful people never stop learning and are never satisfied with what they know. Studying and constant research makes you more eligible as a leader at your workplace. In your free time, enroll for workshops and seminars, take free courses online. Remember that investing in your body, mind and spirit still find a brilliant way to contribute to your career success.
#10 Take Care Of Yourself. Always.
Find a way to always find the calm in the midst of the storm. You should discover what de-stresses you and do so at the right time. As a successful individual, you should understand that if you find yourself feeling down, unsettled and unwell, it could affect the quality of your work and hinder your success.
Always remember that there are 168 hours in a week, we spend about 40 hours at the office. You have the remaining 128 hours to yourself. You could find a way to incorporate any and every of these success tips that have been highlighted. Which ones would you choose?
