Hey There,
The time is finally here to meet the board. Every single decision they have made has led you to this very moment, and then you wonder what to do when you finally meet the board. Here are 5 quick tips to prepare you for that moment you have waited for all this while.
#1 Relax: This is the most important key point. Remember that even though the hiring manager and his team have not met you in person before now, they have met you on your CV and would have an idea of who you are. Therefore, be the best version of you that you can be, but make sure you relax so you do not find yourself tripping over words. This way, when you are relaxed, you would be able to think coherently and make a good first impression.
#2 Dress Properly: Never forget that the way you dress is the way you would be addressed. Ensure you show up at interviews properly dressed in order to create a great first impression. You could take time out to find out the company’s dress code and culture, but it’s safer to appear corporately dressed.
#3 Listen: At Interview sessions, your interviewer tests your listening skills. It is important to listen twice as much as you speak, this doesn’t exclude your interview session. Also, when you listen attentively, you get a chance to understand the questions that are being asked hence a better shot at answering the question rather than giving a totally off point answer simply because you didn’t listen properly.
#4 Prepare for the big day!: Research about the company the night before and the position you are applying for. You would appear more confident on the D-Day. Find out their vision, mission, basic company information etc. It would be rather embarrassing if you show up at an interview and you know little to nothing about what they do or who they are.
#5 Give Off Positive Vibes: Smile appropriately, answer questions coherently in a proper tone and do not derail from the point. Ensure you answer the questions that you are asked and ensure you maintain eye contact.
Interview sessions are set up in order to get to know you more and determine how you fit into the role you applied for. So relax, be the best version of you that you can be and show them the good stuff you are made of. This way, we are almost sure you would land the job. All the very best at your next interview!
